This American Airlines aircraft is painted in the livery of Allegheny Airlines (AL). One of a series of heritage liveries on the American fleet honoring predecessor airlines painted in December 2014.
Pittsburgh PA based Allegheny Airlines was founded in 1939 and rebranded as USAir (US) in 1979. USAir was renamed US Airways (US) in 1996 and in 2013 merged into American Airlines (AA). The US Airways name and ‘US’ designator disappeared entirely in 2015 on completion of the integration.
