Cuenca Mariscal Lamar International Airport (CUE)
Opened in 1941 Cuenca’s airport is operated by public sector group COPAC (Corporacion Aeroportuaria). Located centrally in Ecuador’s third largest city of Cuenca the airport was linked by a light rail system inaugurated in 2020 with a stop in front of the airport on Avenida Espana.
The airport is named after Marshal (Mariscal) Jose de la Mar a Spanish Colonial leader who was born in Cuenca and went on to become President of Peru (1822-23) in the immediate years after its independence from Spain.
