SNCF TER services at Platforms 19 to 22 await departure from Paris Est. SNCF’s TER (Transport express regional) division denotes non-suburban rail services operated by 20 French regions.
Paris Est, or Gare de l'Est, was completed in 1849 by architect François-Alexandre Duquesney for the Compagnie du Chemin de Fer de Paris à Strasbourg (Paris-Strasbourg Railway) initially under the name Strasbourg Platform and was renamed Paris Est in 1854.
Although an important terminus for SNCF TGV services in France and international services to Germany and Switzerland Est is only the 5th busiest railway station in Paris with 33m annual passengers.
